The Matrix Recap #4: Ignorance is Bliss.

Neo at the fighting scene.

Cypher: You know, I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize?
[Takes a bite of steak]
Cypher: Ignorance is bliss.

Don't lie to yourself... If you fake who you are, you can't be happy. You might have momentary satisfactions, but you won't be happy.

Lying to yourself creates a world that more sooner than later will cause pain and deceptions to yourself and to those that surround you.

Some people would go to school and the only thing they would do there is schooling.

The goal is just to read what their lecturers teach them, write exam, pass and graduate.

NYSC comes, they'll do the same thing..

The goal is just to go to PPA and fulfill the righteousness of serving their motherland whatever.

No going extramile in school to build yourself.

Simple communication skill, you don't have.

You can't put your thoughts into writing... You can't express yourself through speech.

And you sit down there being comfortable with your ignorance.

But you can watch movie for 8hours after class...

And you're always the keynote speaker at the community discussion of "No Job in this country".

Even if an opportunity shows up right now, do you think you're qualified?

I've had opportunities to sit in interview rooms (as one of the interviewers) where graduates are being interviewed for employment...

I've seen a graduate who was asked, "How will you handle an irate customer?"

A Graduate...(B.Sc, B.A... whatever B they have). Yours Pretty (The leader of tomorrow for crying out loud) didn't know the meaning of "irate".

The challenge is...

They never read a single book(fictional or nonfictional) apart from lecture materials.

Ignorance is bliss.

I've seen a graduate who studied French and was asked in an interview to construct a sentence in French.

The response was, "I don't want to.. Because I will make a lot of mistakes"

And this dudess studied French for 4yrs!!

I've seen someone who had the opportunity to get a job in an organization. She knows a strong person in the organization who wanted to ensure that she got the job.

All she needed was to show that she's smart and she would be offered the job on a platter of Gold. But dudess could not even answer the famous ubiquitous interview question: "Tell us about yourself".

Her response was: "My name is bla bla.. I graduated from bla bla University. And I am a good person". Chai..!!

Despite she has a strong connection.. The employer found her so unfit and incompetent that they couldn't even use their church mind and say because she knows someone, they would employ her. That was how she became unlucky.

Ignorance is bliss.

Some people think being lucky means God would just look at you, pitifully, and because God is good nah, He will just make you hit luck like that.

Luck isn't by luck. You gotta prepare. So that when an opportunity shows up... You'll shoot your shot and never miss...

President can get you a job because you know him, but he won't be the one to do the job for you. Even the Almighty God can get you a job... But "Baba God nor go come do the job for you".

You also need some forms of competencies beyond just being an outspoken member of the "No job in this country"

Stop shouting "no job no job".

You should please ask yourself now..

If an opportunity that can change your life shows up right now, are you qualified enough that the opportunity will, in no way, elude you..

Give yourself some edge... Wear extra Armour...

What do you wanna do with your life?

In 5years time, what do you want to be happily doing with your life?

You won't just get there by magic!

So start building competence towards achieving it.

Read a book... Learn a skill... Build your dream on the mini level.

Give yourself some competitive edge... So that when the opportunity shows up, you won't be among the crowd soliciting.....You'll be a special candidate.

This economy is hard enough for you to be incompetent.

It's all about the acceptance of who you are, and liberating from self-imposed ways of thinking. What are you really trying to achieve? Really... Take a second and ask yourself that question.

Why is it so important how other people perceive you?

Why do some people feel the urgency to minimize the acts of others in order to be praised for what they do? Insecurity. The answer is insecurity.

When you desperately need people to visualize you in a certain way, that is a sign of insecurity.

When you badmouth other people, that is a sign of insecurity.

Break those chains out of your life. Be yourself. Accept yourself. Empower yourself. Live your life, and not the one of somebody else.

In the end, no one cares about all that wasted effort in positioning yourself as someone that you are not. There is people that get obsessed of being accepted (even unconsciously) by all means. I can only feel sorry for them... Don't believe that repeating lies and lies all over again to yourself will make them become your truth... Don't abuse self-affirmation.

Cypher: I know what you're thinking, 'cause right now I'm thinking the same thing. Actually, I've been thinking it ever since I got here: Why oh why didn't I take the BLUE pill!!
